Do you want your car to ride smoother over bumps? Leaf springs can help! Leaf springs are critical in the suspension of your vehicle. Those little rubber bits absorb shock when you drive over a bump, pothole, or hit some uneven ground. Weak, damaged or old leaf springs can cause your car to bounce a lot and sway side to side. That will make your journey unpleasant.
Get your leaf springs off the car Don't worry, it is not as difficult as you think! The tools you will need to prep yourself: a jack, two or more durable quick-jacks (kind of like little lifts with safety on the side), and some secure wrenching skills is likely very accurate. After you are able to remove the leaf springs, look for any damage, ware or parts that need replacing in a detailed manner.
For starters, you need a jack to safely lift your car off the ground. So, to get your car up: you are going to need the jack stands to keep the vehicle steady while it is in mid air. Remove the bolts that hold your leaf springs to your car using a wrench. Now they are off, just let them down to the ground gently now! Be careful with this step, you must do it slowly to prevent any further pouring accidents.

Now simply use a clamp to hold the leaf springs in place while you remove the center bolt carefully. You need to get individual leaves out of the stack. Next, inspect all the leafs for damage or wear. So, be certain to replace ones that are broken or too worn out with new parts for the best performance.

If you have to insert new leaves into your leaf springs, measure them very carefully so that they fit just right. In summary, all these things needs to be in proper sizing for everything works well. You are also adding in new pieces such as bushings or bolts, both of which can greatly improve the strength and longevity at just those needed points with your leaf springs.

After all of the shims are clean and in good condition, you can go ahead with reassembling the leaf springs. Begin with the smallest leaf that is at the bottom of your pile and move upwards to the largest one. Tighten everything and then bolt in the center of each layer. Before you put the leaf springs back on your car, it is really important that everything is where and how it should be.
